MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (March x, 2023) – LeadingAge PA, an association representing more than 370 aging services providers, including many who operate nonprofit nursing homes, sent a letter to U.S. Senator Bob Casey Jr. outlining their concerns about a proposed federal staffing requirement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for skilled nursing providers. -

MECHANICSBURG, PA— Today, Messiah Lifeways at MessiahVillage held a ribbon-cuttingceremony to celebrate the completion of its new Asper Courtyard and the donors and teammembers who made this beautiful outdoor space possible. The Asper Courtyard is connected to Messiah Lifeways’ Asper Neighborhood—a memory carenursing neighborhood that offers specialized nursing services that promote individuality anddignity for those with a dementia diagnosis such as Alzheimer’s disease. This new outdoor spacewas created with memory care residents and their needs specifically in mind, so that they canhave a space to enjoy time outside with their families and friends. -
Merrill G. Freed to Show His Work at Landis Homes Retirement Community

An exhibition featuring Merrill G. Freed is on display at Landis Homes now through January. Since the first grade, Merrill realized he enjoyed drawing. He was encouraged by teachers and especially his eighth grade art teacher and Principal. At the age of 15 he submitted a picture of the “Draw Me” girl found in a magazine and submitted it to the school. That year he enrolled in the Art Instruction School of Minneapolis, Minnesota and completed the prescribed course in “Illustrating and Related Art.” Later he studied oil painting under the teaching of Dr. Ralph Lewars in Mt. Gretna, PA and also taught Drawing and Painting to interested persons in a therapeutic setting.
