  • Merrill G. Freed to Show His Work at Landis Homes Retirement Community

    An exhibition featuring Merrill G. Freed is on display at Landis Homes now through January. Since the first grade, Merrill realized he enjoyed drawing. He was encouraged by teachers and especially his eighth grade art teacher and Principal. At the age of 15 he submitted a picture of the “Draw Me” girl found in a magazine and submitted it to the school. That year he enrolled in the Art Instruction School of Minneapolis, Minnesota and completed the prescribed course in “Illustrating and Related Art.” Later he studied oil painting under the teaching of Dr. Ralph Lewars in Mt. Gretna, PA and also taught Drawing and Painting to interested persons in a therapeutic setting.

    LITITZ, PA – November 29, 2022 – Moravian Manor Communities and Morningstar Living—two faith-based, not-for-profit pillars in senior living in Pennsylvania—are exploring opportunities for working together in a more meaningful, formal way. In a milestone event, Susan Cooper Drabic, Morningstar Living’s President and CEO since 1990, is announcing her retirement within the next several months. The intent to explore an affiliation follows the resourcefulness and bold decision making of the communities’ founding leaders. After the Boards and related task forces conduct their due diligence, should the resolution to affiliate be approved, J. David Swartley, President and CEO of Moravian Manor Communities, would take on the key leadership role for both Life Plan Communities.

Now we have Roomba's at home doing the vacuuming for us and Alexa devices to turn the lights on and off with the sound of our voice. Quincy Village, a Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) community, is embracing the wave of technology by adding a robotic server to help support dining staff and serve residents.
