SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for oversight of the total finance department including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, internal accounting control and monthly reporting. Establish policies and procedures for finance department and financial functions within the organization.
Coordinate and prepare annual budget for presentation to Management, Finance Committee and Board of Directors including:
- Competitive analysis and rate structure development
- Resident rate increases
- Salary compensation levels
- Salary increase levels
- Calculate Medicare, Medicaid and Free Care contractual and other allowances.
- Capital budget plan
- Departmental operating budgets
- Oversees preparation of monthly financial statements including balance sheets, statement of operations, cash flow and patient census, etc. and presents appropriate financial information to Management, Finance Committee and Board of Directors. Analyzes information for reasonability and variance from budget. Maintains liaison relationship with and reports to financial institutions to ensure compliance with financial covenants and quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Responsible for oversight of the Development Department including fundraising and cultivation events, grants, capital campaigns and donor tracking.
- Responsible for various regulatory reporting including PA Department of Insurance, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department of Public Welfare, Internal Revenue Service, PA Department of Revenue and other agencies.
- Coordinate, supervise and assist with annual external audit. Assist, as needed, accounting and consulting firm(s) which perform annual audit. Coordinate, supervise and assist with preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and 990 tax returns. Responsible for Sales Tax Exemption and returns. Real Estate Tax Exemption and returns. Medicaid and Medicare revalidations and all bank/debt reporting and covenants.
- Coordinate and attend Finance Committee and Board of Directors meetings to provide fiscal input and reports as desired by members.
- Prepare financial projections or proformas for evaluation and various opportunities.
- Advise and work with department managers as necessary concerning fiscal matters and budget.
- Manage, direct, and supervise the finance and development departments including hiring qualified applicants, providing proper orientation and training, scheduling and distributing work, reviewing work, conducting annual employee reviews and provide general oversight.
- Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and coordinating new and existing computer hardware and software for the finance and development departments.
- Assist with the annual bidding process for employee insurance and retirement programs.
- Oversee and coordinate investment programs based on Finance Committee recommendations and requests.
- Attend educational programs to enhance job and supervisory skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 7 years accounting experience in a not-for- profit organization, preferably a Continuing Care Retirement Community, as CFO.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Experience 5 years’ accounting experience in Healthcare including experience in third party reimbursement systems (Medicare & Medicaid). Experience with computer systems and PC based programs. 3 years managerial experience.

- Certifications Certified Public Accountant
