SpiriTrust Lutheran is now hiring a Part Time Day Medical Director for Home Care & Hospice in Franklin County, PA.
Education/Training: Licensed Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. Current CPR certification within three (3) months of employment.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing and grammatical skills; proficient in interpersonal relations and communication skills, including pleasant telephone manner and speaking voice; ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships; working knowledge of computer operations and ability to learn specialized industry applications; demonstrates a desire and ability to work with terminally ill clients and with bereaved individuals and/or families; effective leadership and supervisory skills; valid driver’s license and dependable means of transportation.
Experience: One (1) year of recent clinical experience in licensed or certified discipline normally required. Experience in home health or hospice preferred.
Essential Duties
Provides for the medical oversight of hospice care clients through the Interdisciplinary Group as follows:\
- Is responsible for, or participates in, making decisions regarding admissions to hospice home care or inpatient setting(s) in conjunction with the hospice Interdisciplinary Group (IDG).
- Certifies (in conjunction with the attending physician) and recertifies client eligibility for hospice care.
- Is responsible for the medical component of the hospice’s client care program.
- Is responsible for, or participates in, developing and revising written client care objectives and procedures.
- Reviews client medication profiles to ensure that drugs and biologicals meet the client’s needs.
- Assumes overall responsibility for medical care of clients in conjunction with the attending physician and Interdisciplinary Group.
- Assures availability of physician services for routine and emergency situations.
- Acts as liaison between the attending physician and the Interdisciplinary group.
- Resolves conflicting client care decisions.
- Serves as liaison with community physicians, medical schools and hospitals.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and oversees QAPI committee.
- May assume and/or retain the role of attending physician.
- Participates in 24-hour care delivery as needed, providing on-call as assigned.
