The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible to plan, organize, develop, direct, and coordinate the overall operation of the nursing care delivered to residents in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility.
The Director of Nursing duties include:
- Representing the facility and United Church of Christ Homes in a professional manner, upholding the mission, vision, and values of UCC Homes;
- Planning, coordinating, and overseeing the delivery of resident care to ensure quality and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standard nursing practice guidelines;
- Assessing and evaluating nursing staffing levels and ensuring appropriate levels are in place and staffing needs are met;
- Hiring, orienting, training, evaluating, mentoring/coaching, disciplining, and terminating nursing personnel, as appropriate and necessary;
- Leads and/or participates in committees; identifies opportunities for improvement, develops policies and protocols; and monitors outcomes of initiatives; and
- With the Executive Director, assists with developing and implementing plans of correction in order to maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as with the PA DOH.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Current, active PA RN license;
- Two years of DON or RN Supervisor experience in long-term care setting;
- Thorough understanding of PA DOH SNF regulations;
- The ability to interact tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel, and the general public;
- Proven training, leadership, and supervisory skills with the ability to delegate; and,
- Basic computer skills.
