Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking a proactive Director of Nursing (DON) for our 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility. This is a terrific opportunity for a qualified RN Supervisor, ADON, or current DON who possesses strong leadership and clinical skills. The DON will develop, mentor, and lead clinical staff; oversee nursing services; and foster a culture of excellence within the Skilled Nursing Facility.

A valid PA RN license is required, along with a record of successfully:
- hiring and developing clinical staff;
- engaging with and providing effective leadership for clinical staff;
- creating and/or overseeing effective clinical training programs to foster on-going development of clinical staff;
- overseeing and ensuring exceptional care and service for Residents;
- communicating professionally with Residents' family members and representatives;
- initiating and implementing process improvements;
- ensuring adherence to applicable state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities;
- promoting the highest-quality clinical care and professionalism among staff.
The DON will work collaboratively with colleagues, including the Nursing Home Administrator (NHA), the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), and RN Clinical Care Coordinators, to provide the highest-quality clinical care, leadership, supervision, and oversight for the Skilled Nursing Facility. The DON serves as a member of the organization's "Management Excellence Team", and reports to the Vice President of Health Services.
The DON will:
- foster the highest standards of nursing care; communicate and promote the highest-quality nursing practices among all staff
- oversee proper clinical case management; ensure adherence to treatment plans
- foster caring and professional relations between staff, Residents, and Residents' family members
- research and implement best-practices related to case management, and policies and procedures related to sound nursing protocols
- working with the Clinical Program Coordinator, develop, communicate, implement, and evaluate training and on-going professional development programs for nurses and other clinical staff
- interview, hire, orient, develop, mentor, coach, and supervise Certified Nurse Aides (CNA's), LPN's, and RN's, using a collaborative and supportive approach
- work with the NHA, Schedulers, and Human Resources to ensure proper staffing levels; proactively implement practices to involve and aid retention of staff
- promote safe work practices
- ensure year-round "survey readiness" and compliance with all relevant regulations; collect data, prepare reports, and complete audits as needed
- participate on or lead committees as requested
- provide direct nursing care as needed
The DON will perform all duties in strict adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations including HIPAA, Department of Health and CMS regulations, and the Elder Justice Act; in accordance with sound and effective clinical practices; and with the highest degree of integrity consistent with Brethren Village’s values.

Qualifications
- Valid PA RN license; BSN preferred
- Current CPR certification
- At least 7 years of experience as an RN, including experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
- Experience in a supervisory or management position: strong leadership competencies; experience hiring, training, coaching, engaging, and developing staff
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations, and Department of Health and CMS regulations pertinent to a Skilled Nursing Facility
- Ability and willingness to provide effective training, coaching, and supervision to CNA's and Nurses, and to work collaboratively with all staff
- Excellent organization skills; the ability to efficiently coordinate own work and the work of others
- A record of implementing enhancements to processes and procedures
- Comfort with public speaking (facilitating meetings and training sessions)
- Dependability /ability to meet attendance standards; ability and willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends when needed; willingness to serve on-call
- Solid computer skills: ability to access web sites and efficiently use web-based applications, databases, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- The ability to quickly and safely assist Residents and other clients during emergency evacuations and other emergency situations; the ability to direct the activities of others, including during urgent or emergency situations
- The ability to form positive and supportive relationships with Residents, their family members, and staff, and to consistently provide exceptional care and service to others.
