PHOEBE RICHLAND BELLES REHEARSING ON MARCH 13
- Date: Thursday, March 13
- Time: 3:00 P.M.
- Location: Phoebe Richland 108 S. Main Street, Richlandtown, PA 18955
A group of residents at Phoebe Richland (Richlandtown, PA) will be rehearsing for the bell choir on March 13 at 3p.m. What started as an idea from one of the residents with a background in bells has blossomed into the Meadow Glen Belles, a group of 12 residents aged 74 to 105.
The group began by playing Christmas carols in 2023. Their first performance was on December 21 of that year, a Nativity performance with songs like “We Three Kings,” “Silent Night,” and “The First Noel.” Six months later, they performed patriotic songs for their fellow residents. In 2025, they expanded their repertoire and performed throughout the year at various holidays.
Joyce, the mother of the oldest resident in the Meadow Glen Belles, is the group’s leader. “I enjoy leading this wonderful group,” says Joyce. “Our practices are filled with laughter, jokes, respect for each other, and hard work. If you’re having a tough day, stop and listen. You’ll walk away with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.”
We invite the media to Phoebe Richland on Thursday, March 13, at 3 p.m. for the Meadow Glen Belles' next rehearsal. If you are interested in covering their rehearsal, please contact me at araisman@phoebe.org.
