Messiah Lifeways® awarded $1 million in funding through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program
November 21, 2024
MECHANICSBURG, PA—The PA Office of Budget has named Messiah Lifeways as a recipient of
$1 million in funding through the 2024 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). Half of
these dollars are allocated to the site preparation and construction of Messiah Lifeways’ new
Fernecrest campus, which broke ground earlier this month, and the other half will support HVAC
upgrades needed on its Messiah Village campus in Mechanicsburg.
More specifically for Fernecrest, the 85-acre property located in York County at 100 Spanglers Mill
Road, RACP funding will allow Messiah Lifeways to focus more on the lifestyle amenities that will
offer value, and opportunities for leisure and increased well-being to older adults. Fernecrest
amenities will feature a nature trail, a fitness center, dining venues, and various other perks designed
for residents to enjoy the scenic landscape.
“It’s such an honor to receive not just one but two grants from the state—having the value of our
efforts to meet the growing and evolving needs of older adults recognized and supported in such a
tangible and transformational way,” said Messiah Lifeways CEO & President Karl Brummer. “These
dollars will help us move our mission forward, broadening our regional reach and meeting a growing
need for places where people can not just reside as they age, but also where they can gain a
meaningful community with whom they can learn, explore, and thrive.”
The RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the
design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical
improvement projects.
