MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 6, 2020) - LeadingAge PA, an association representing more than 360 nonprofit providers of services for seniors, today issued the following statement from President and CEO Adam Marles on the Wolf administration's refusal to shield nursing home providers from immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic:

"We thank Governor Wolf for providing immunity to the employees of our member organizations on the frontlines of this pandemic. But it is not enough. We remain shocked and dumbfounded on why this administration continues to ignore the needs of Pennsylvania's nursing facilities and health care providers; they are in the epicenter of this pandemic and providers need protection in the form of immunity.

"Additionally, we have repeatedly requested emergency funding of $290 million to support the need for personal protective equipment, test kits, and other critical resources. Some of our health care professionals have resorted to wearing garbage bags to keep themselves, and those in their care, safe. It is time for Gov. Wolf to support our health care providers in long-term care facilities with the immunity and resources they need as they continue providing care for the most vulnerable population in Pennsylvania."
