Before joining LeadingAge PA in 2022, Warheit started her career doing activities for nursing and personal care residents with dementia (a crowd favorite was “Tunes and Tea”!). While she adored the job, she quickly recognized the heavy influence of state and federal regulations on the long-term care environment and knew she wanted to pursue a career making a positive impact in this field in some way.

After completing her graduate program and an internship with AARP Nebraska, Anna obtained more hands-on experience through various positions back home in Western PA, including working as a Resident Assistant, Administrator in Training, and Social Services Manager. Through projects implementing new policies for regulatory compliance and strengthening Performance Improvement efforts, Anna found her niche in tackling behind-the-scenes regulatory work to help free up other caring staff to spend more time with residents. She brings a unique blend of resident empathy, provider perspective, and analytical reality to her role at LeadingAge PA.

In her spare time, Anna enjoys playing with her two young children and tries her best to see the world through their eyes. She can often be found tearing up some aspect of the house, whether it’s a baking adventure in the kitchen (The Great British Bake-Off is a terrible influence!), a new DIY home improvement project (much to her very patient husband’s dismay), or digging up a new section of grass to add more plants (whose idea was it to live within walking distance of a greenhouse??).

Director of Regulatory Affairs since 2022

As Director of Regulatory Affairs, Anna Warheit is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the association's government advocacy and public policy programs and practices; achieving goals as established under the Association's strategic initiatives; coordinating a regulatory agenda and policy analysis, and developing a strong network of contacts within the regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over programs of interest to Association members.

Desiring to make an impact improving quality and supporting burned out healthcare teams, Warheit graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Master's Degree in Social Gerontology and a Juris Doctorate in Health Care Law.  She brings nearly 9 years' experience in long-term care and advocacy to her role at LeadingAge PA.  Prior to joining the Association, Anna worked as a manager of social services for a LeadingAge PA member organization in the western portion of the state.
